How to Create a Milestone
Add a new milestone with phase, code, name, and data type in XMP.
Overview
Milestones are the building blocks for tracking work across sites and projects. Each milestone belongs to a phase, has a code and name, and uses a data type (date, currency, number, or dropdown).
How to Access
Go to Main Menu → Milestones.
Creating a Milestone
- Click the Add New button (top right).
- Select the Milestone phase — set up phases first if needed. See How to Create Milestone Phases.
- Enter a Code — often a shorthand for the phase plus a number (for example, COM05 for the fifth commercial milestone).
- Enter a clear, understandable Name — this is the name that appears in reports.
- Choose a Data type. See Understanding Milestone Data Types.
- Save the milestone.
Milestone Flags
When creating your first milestones, you do not need to configure flags — these are more advanced settings. Contact your onboarding manager if you have specific questions about flags.
