Assets Section Overview

Learn what the Assets section does and how it helps you track company equipment.

Overview

The Assets section in XMP gives you a central place to manage, track, inspect, and report on everything your company owns. From PPE and tools to vehicles and hire equipment, you'll always know where your assets are, who has them, and whether they're compliant.

What Can You Track?

The Assets section handles a wide range of equipment types:

  • PPE - Helmets, lanyards, ropes, carabiners, harnesses
  • Tools and equipment - Hand tools, power tools, test equipment
  • Vehicles - Vans, cars, 4x4s
  • Electrical items - PAT-tested equipment
  • Hire equipment - Third-party owned items
  • Container assets - Toolboxes containing other tools

Key Benefits

With the Assets Section, you can:

  • Track where assets are and who has them
  • Manage inspection cycles, working life, and shelf life
  • Generate and store internal and external certificates
  • Control borrowable equipment through the Kit Diary
  • Identify expired, expiring, or non-compliant assets at a glance
  • Export asset data for reporting and audits

Core Concepts

Before you start adding assets, it helps to understand three key concepts:

  • Asset Types - Templates that define how assets are managed (inspection rules, shelf life, certificates). See How to Create Asset Types.
  • Location Leads - The person, vehicle, or office where an asset lives. See How to Create Location Leads.
  • Assets - The actual physical items you're tracking, each created from an Asset Type.

Next Steps

Ready to start managing your assets? Follow these steps in order:

  1. Create your Asset Types to define the rules for each type of equipment
  2. Set up Location Leads so you know where assets belong
  3. Add your assets - either vehicles or standard assets
