Understanding Default User Access Groups

Learn what XMP's built-in access groups control and when to use each one.

Overview

When you first set up XMP, several user access groups are available automatically. Each group controls which sections of the app a user can see and use. Assign groups in a user's Access Control Details on their personnel profile.

Full Access

To give someone complete access to the whole system, assign the Full Access group.

Default Access Groups

XMP includes default groups for common roles:

  • Asset Manager — access to the Assets section to manage and report on company assets
  • Training Manager — access to the Training section to record, log, and update training records
  • Finance/Commercial — finance and commercial controls and options
  • Operations/Office — mainly reporting and project management
  • Field — for field staff, mainly engineers
  • HR — holidays, salaries, and timesheets

You can control all of these groups and the permissions within them from access group settings. See How to Create User Access Groups to customise permissions or create new groups.
