How to Enable Timesheets for Work Types
Configure which types of work require engineers to submit timesheets in XMP.
Overview
XMP's timesheet feature lets you track hours worked by your field team against scheduled jobs. Before engineers can submit timesheets, you need to tell the system which types of work require them. This is done through the work type configuration — once enabled, any engineer scheduled against that work type will be prompted to submit a timesheet via the mobile app.
This is particularly useful if you need to submit hours to a manager or client, or if you want to report on time spent across different projects and sites.
How to Enable Timesheets
- Go to Main Menu → Schedule
- Click the "Actions" dropdown in the top right corner and select "Configure Work Types"
- You'll see a list of your existing work types — each one will show whether it currently requires timesheets or not
- Click into the work type you want to update
- Tick the Requires Timesheets checkbox
- Save the changes
Repeat this for each work type that should require a timesheet. You don't need to enable it for every work type — only the ones where you need to track hours.
What Happens Next
Once a work type is set to require timesheets, any engineer scheduled against a job of that type will see the timesheet option in their mobile app. The system will also track whether timesheets have been submitted, making it easy for managers to spot missing entries at a glance.
