How to Create Training Requirements

Set up individual training requirements with names, expiry periods, and scheduling options.

Overview

Training requirements are the foundation of your training system in XMP. Each requirement represents a specific type of training or certification that your staff need to carry out their role safely and compliantly. Before you can assign training to staff or create job disciplines, you'll need to set up your training requirements.

Accessing Training Requirements

To access the training requirements list:

  1. Go to Main Menu → Training → Requirements

Creating a New Training Requirement

To create a new training requirement:

  1. From the training requirements list, click the Add New button in the corner
  2. Enter the name of the training requirement (e.g., "Emergency First Aid at Work")
  3. Set the expiry period for this requirement
  4. Optionally, toggle Required for Scheduling
  5. Save the requirement

Required for Scheduling Option

The Required for Scheduling toggle controls whether staff must have this training requirement (with a valid certificate) before they can be scheduled onto jobs. If you enable this option:

  • Only staff members who have this training requirement and a valid certificate will be available when scheduling jobs
  • Staff without this requirement or with expired certificates will be filtered out from the scheduling tool

This helps ensure that only qualified staff are assigned to jobs that require specific training or certifications.

Next Steps

Once you've created your training requirements, you can group them into job disciplines. See How to Create Job Disciplines for the next step in setting up your training system.
