What Are Milestones in XMP
Understand how milestones track steps in your business and power reports and dashboards.
Overview
Think of milestones in XMP as elements to track. Any step, stage, or process in your business that you want to measure — or already track elsewhere — can be a milestone. They help you log progress as work happens around your business, and then answer questions such as how long it takes to complete and invoice a job, or how many days you spend filling in HOPS forms.
Why Milestones Matter
Milestones help you:
- Build reports for managing projects from beginning to end
- Present operational workload to departments and team members
- Create business operation widgets and dashboards
It is often useful to think backwards: what question do you want to answer, and what data do you need to answer it? Milestones can be edited and refined as you go — there is no pressure to get everything perfect first time.
Getting Started
By default, XMP includes example milestones you can use, tweak, or replace. If you need help scoping milestones or choosing the right level of detail, contact your onboarding manager.
